Default Strapping to a trailer

I've got a Raod King and have been strapping to the rear crash bars for the back support ( the front is solid ). Because of the rear shocks and a shitty freeway, the straps released. What else can I tie to? TIA

It appears that you have a Road King of unknown year and unknown model.
Frames changed thru the years.
There is no mention if a chock is being used for front wheel.
A chock helps to keep bike straight UP and locked forward.
No mention if a rail is being used. A rail helps to keep rear tire in line.
No mention of tie downs being used. Quality tie down are required.
No mention of trailer or pick-up.
Not knowing the above. This is what i do for a 1998 Road King classic.
I use 4 ratchet type straps (powertye brand).
The straps have the clip on the hook that help reduce the chance of hook release.
The front is tied via the triple tree clamp on each side( pulling forward ).
At the rear the strap goes from trailer to passenger foot board mount and back to trailer on each side ( pulling to side).
Bike in neutral and kickstand UP.

Note: Make sure the passenger floor board mounting bolts are tight.
Rear should be compressed midway. Front compressed more.

The front is solid, in a chock and strapped avoiding the shocks. Thats the problem with the rear. I can't find a way to strap the back. Floor boards / pegs involve the shocks. I just traveled to the L.A .area down I 5 - beat the **** out of us, truck, 5th wheel, and bike trailer. Thx...

I use the passenger floor boards.
Pulling down and to the side should not have a clearance problem unless you are pulling in another direction or your model year is different.
Both hooks on the ONE strap on each side go to trailer.

I need to look at that option. I had to add eye hooks on the trailer but doing one all the way around may work. And you compress your back shocks about 50%? I had my straps damn tight so the shocks had to be down. There was still alot of play for the straps to release. To answer a previous question, I'm using Smartstraps. Thx...

Put a bungee under tension on the eyehooks of the straps so they don`t fall off when the suspension compresses

If your front is in a chock and strapped securely, the only thing you need to worry about in the rear is for the tail not to swing side to side. I used a condor chock upfront, straps using Harley tie down brackets I installed and for the rear, I just strap the rear wheel to the tie down points in the rear of the trailer. I use quality heavy duty straps and nary a problem in years of towing over rough roads.

I do a loop around the rear tire down low...about the 4 o'clock position and then go as far to the back of trailer as possible. I've had el-cheapo rachet straps loosen when the load is unloaded by bumps...they're in the landfill somewhere.
