From actual experience, what does something like that cost to have replaced by Harley?
why would you? Have it shipped to the house and just do it there, its a half dozen or so screws, probably take longer to get to the dealer and you can buy one of many way nicer windshields.
My personal thoughts are, as been suggested here, it absolutely does need replaced... I figure it WILL only get worse and could go at the worst possible time; I'm trying to gauge the severity of it, being it's on a used bike I'm considering buying.
It looks like the seller needs to reduce the price (by about the cost of a new windshield.)

Amen, I already made the seller an offer, but... I stipulated it was 'based upon inspection', the seller went away until Tuesday of next week, but I went to go see it a couple of days ago with the sellers son, we figured on doing the deal this coming week when they get back, but this changes things, the seller never told me the windshield was shattered to the point it's at now and... the brake pads on the bike are very thin...
I trying to figure the best way to propose to the seller that my initial offer needs to be credited as this is going to cost me.
I had the same cracking problem with the detachable windshield on my '94 FLSTN. I think I had 4 replacement windshields from H-D crack in the same place (lower screw holes). I finally went with a replacement glass from Memphis Shades. That one never cracked.
My vote is; replace it, but not with an OEM windshield, but an aftermarket piece like Memphis Shades for better quality.

Idk, i do all my own maintenance early but i dont keep records for crap. I keep easy to remember intervals so i dont have to. I never used my shield on my roadking, so i doubt i would replace it because of those cracks. Id say it depends on the situation.
