I came up on a rough railroad crossing yesterday so I slow enough to hit 1st gear and proceed over the tracks. Checking the usual things, cars behind and coming towards me and then a quick look to the right on the tracks and a railroad truck is on the tracks hauling a$$ towards me! No red lights flashing, no traffic arms down, no warning at all.
I had plenty of time to continue through safely and he did slow at the last minute to wait for traffic but it was very surprizing to see him barreling towards me when you usually wouldn't expect to see anything there.
I usually look before crossing any RR crossing, warning signals or not. This time I was watching cagers. Guess that's one more thing to add to the mental checklist.
thats odd he should have tripped the signal, lucky, they usually just put it on cruise at about 30 to check tracks.and dont worry about traffic. somethin wrong with the signal
