Are we talking about loud music while trucking down the highway, trying to listen to it over the wind noise and engine/exhaust racket or are we talking about everyone pulls up at a rest stop and someone decides it is time to blare their music over everyone else who it stopped with them or nearby? It makes a difference for me. A passing loud bike with or without blasting tunes is not really any different than a hopped up rod with tinted windows and a bass so low it shakes the ground, a nearly unmuffled diesel truck or a low flying plane or helicopter. It’s temporary, annoying, but short lived and soon forgotten after being laughed at.

On the other hand, just because you spent thousands on a grand bike stereo system is no reason to blast it every time you and your buddies stop. In my world, even though you might be great in every other way, you won’t be invited back to ride in our group. Also, if we are stopped at a public place, other groups around, parents, kids, other riding groups, and you need to listen to your stereo at 130 dBA, you are an …….

My exception is your one favorite song. If you are like my wife, and every song is loved, shut it off, but if that one song, that takes you back to 16 years old, to your first milestone, just makes you giddy with joy, I’m okay with you tripping out on it loud. But two songs and you become an a……e.

So this is my opinion, not a law or even a rule. Just life experience living on the edge. I don’t worry about people disagreeing with me, so fire away. Change my mind why you need everyone to look, watch, listen to your particular song/stereo setup at maximum loudness. What makes you so important that others around you don’t matter or that they need to acknowledge your presence?

This is a question about loudness, not taste. Besides, you just dated yourself.

But I enjoyed your prank response as I would enjoy a good joke. Just don’t tell me it’s real!

The people who say a bike should not have this problem that , typically ride less, and go home for their Prius.

I am for anything that keeps me riding more, longer, storage, warmth, and comfort.

If I asked you why not, you could not produce anything other than an emotional answer

Got no room for emotions

Actually I did do it as a joke and it was pretty damn loud. We were riding next to my Sister and brother in law and been commenting on the loudness and fairly shitty (sound) quality of the music blaring out of some of the bikes at the rally so I did it as we were pulling up to a light.
I'm 62 but chose the song because of an old John Mulaney joke.

not an emotional comment. Less weight more speed.. better brakes, handling and mileage as a bonus.

One of my closest friends and I ride both ride a 2021 RGS. He has never turned his radio on, and wishes he could have gotten a Special with no radio whatsoever.

Me, when we're taking a road trip, or even a longer ride through the woods, my radio is on. Loud on the highways, softly in the neighborhoods and stop lights.

We both ride 8-10,000 miles per year.

I don't equate music to miles riden. But I do think more storage and more weather protection directly corresponds. Myself when doing long trips do like the music, but did my longest without it. My comparission was to the guys who want nothing.

Typically my music is on when I leave the garage. My old bike it is acting up now. What really bugs me backlight is flickering so I can't see the clock, or what track I am on.

I don"t listen to the radio very much unless going at a slower pace where you can hear it.
We enjoy the quiet when we stop out in the countryside. J hate blaring music
