Default Full face vs Modular

Time for a new helmet. I've been using modular helmets but I'm interested in trying a full face. Looking for opinions on the pros and cons of these two types of lid

I prefer a FF..., if / when I wear one

That said..., and based on my Brothers

Modular

Easier on / off
Can smoke / dip / drink
Don't need to remove to hold a conversation

Visit a cycle gear and try different ones on

I have both, a Shoei Neotec modular and a Shoei GT-Air II full face. Both have their pros and cons. If I had to pick between the two, I would choose the Neotec. In fact, I plan on ordering the Neotec II soon.

As already suggested, go to a motorcycle store like Cycle Gear (if you have them in Canada) and try on helmets before deciding.

I agree with Ghost, getting a drink talking gotta scratch my nose all easier with a modular.

I've been using mod's for over 20 years now, and won't go back to a FF. I don't smoke anymore, but when I did, but being able to fire one up while I was riding my Wing was the essence of being spoiled. Being able to drink something while you're riding has it's benefits, let alone just flipping it up at gas stations while you pump gas is a great convivence.

The only con of a modular vs. a full face is the higher cost. And don’t go cheaper to bring the price difference down.

Love my modular, like being able to open at traffic lights, lift to talk, lift to fill up, etc.

I was recently considering a modular as well and found this site about the pros and cons.

I originally went to Cycle Gear to get the Neotec but left with a GT Air II. Both great helmets but I wear an XL an the Neotec made my head look HUGE. I looked like a bobble head doll. lol
The GT Air II is probably the best of any Helmet I've ever had with regards to sound, air flow, and most important to me, aerodynamics on the bike are amazing.

Different brands fit different heads for sure. I really wanted the Carbon HJC to fit my head but it was a no go.
