Ok, if the Harley filter is junk, what’s a good USA made one that has the 5 micron spec? He never addressed that spec.

Perhaps one doesn't exist.

If it did, then MOCO would probably say it voids your warranty if you use it.

Interesting video I guess. What actual value it has... Meh? It's content is solely about the build quality between two filters - one he prefers to use (FRAM) and HD's filter. Actually 3 filters - including the older HD filter from the 90's. It talks about how well they are made, but not how well they perform. I'd be just as interested, if not more, in the answer to the later question.

I found this video more useful in answering the performance question. The whole video is worth a watch, but you can skip to the 41:53 mark to get his comments on filters...

He notes that in his testing, 5 microns is too tight causing the filter material to become clogged by around 3K miles. The clogged filter material causes the bypass to open resulting in the oil not being filtered. He also notes that a lot of parts store filters can be as large as 30 to 40 microns (no problems with clogging and opening the bypass). The goal - he states - is to find a happy medium. One filter he mentions that does that is the HIFLOFILTRO filters.

Anyway... my 2 cents.

a black Wix filter for twin cams is part #57148

and I believe 57348 is the chrome version.

I only run the Black Wix filters on my 103” and buy a few of them at a time on Rockauto.

HIFLOFILTRO filter - Advanced high performance tri-fiber filtration media for optimum filtration, high capacity, and improved oil flow. Capable of capturing particles as small as 5 microns.

Contradiction there for him to perhaps resolve.
