I just set up an account at my local HD dealer ( 120 miles away ). They have my cc # on file. If I need something I just send them an email with the part #'s and they order it and ship it to me when it comes in.
120 miles away? I am fortunate my local dealership is in the next township over. About 8 miles away.
since HD put the restrictions on online sales I find myself using allot more aftermarket parts from Dennis Kirk or JP and other online parts houses and find that the quality is just as good or sometimes better!!!
I think HD shot themselves in the foot on their decision to tie their dealerships hands on online sales!!
Damn, need a new voltage regulator and Surdyke doesn't ship to me anymore... whomp whomp
Check eBay. I have found new Harley and Mopar parts from vendors there. Not knock offs, but genuine parts from real places selling "overstocked" items.
My latest experience with HD. I am looking at 2 different saddlebags, one is synthetic and the other leather. The outside dimensions of the synthetic bags is larger than the leather but internally is 2000 cubic inches and the leather 3000 cubic inches.
On the Harley Davidson website is a contact email address which I use to ask the question about size and capacity. The replay I get is to contact customer services for online sales and am given a link. The link takes me to a page with an enquiry form.
I fill out the form and wait for the reply which is to contact a dealer and ask them the question.
From the first response I reply and state how useless the customer service reply was and all I got was please contact a dealer.
