Where I live there's a core charge on a new battery purchase which is refunded when you bring in your old battery
12.3 volts is only about halfway charged. I bet if you charge it it'll start your bike at least.
I would replace it just as others have said, but keep in mind that a fully charged battery is 12.8 volts, 12.6 volts is 98% state of charge, and 12.0 is 0%.

Thanks for posting that. I hate getting stranded,cars, bikes and boats, due to a weak battery. But I'm also cheap. I hate replacing a good battery just because it's a few years old.
I'm printing it out and putting it on my garage corkboard.
