I see people on FB all the time "I'm looking for someone to ride with in my area or state". Maybe there should be a hookup site for day riders.
Sometimes I wonder how many guys or couples would actually take advantage of an invitation to be part of a....say....5 bike group for an all-day or overnight weekend ride. I suspect not many.
Im in the same boat. Lots of people I used to ride with moved away, quit riding or died. I ride to work as much as possible but the I395 HOV lanes in northern VA are NOT the enjoyable ride I would like to have so weekends I'm usually riding solo or sometimes a few folks will do short rides. The "meet up" internet stuff is a little weird for me. Maybe its me, but I don't really trust anyone and I sure know what chloroform smells like...Just kidding on the last part...

You might have something there that I can concur. When I ask fellow riders if they want to come to my remote Adirondack Mountains cabin and see my wood chipper collection, crickets.
Got one vest with a bunch of "In Memory" patches on it. Started running out of room for them all. It sucks.
Got a new vest a couple years ago with nothing on it. My road trips these days are mostly up to the barn property. I have chores to do up there, limited time to do them, and anyone left that's not on that other vest probably wouldn't keep up with me anyway.

I have been riding since I was in my early twenties. Most of my riding was done solo because almost none of my friends did.
I am now 55 and about 10 years ago I was getting tired of not riding with other people.
So I did an online search and found out about the the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. Found a local chapter near me and ended up joining.
Glad I did. I have a few more people in my riding circle now.
Check them out. Might have a local chapter near you.

I was First Officer of the San Diego SCRC for a few years. Met some good people and had some good rides. A big national club is not a fit for me, too much unwelcome drama. I do not think people are wired, and I am not to have big social circles.
If you are a Veteran look up or google COMBAT VETERAN MOTORCYCLE ASSOATION group. it's a group national wide , vet helping vet. I've been a member for 8 yrs been places i'da never been if I hadn't joined. riding about 6,000 miles a yr. lot of wk-end trips to other chapter's. requires to have a dd-214 honorable discharge ride a 500cc or bigger. I ride a Harley 2015 freewheeler, I'm 89 yrs old.
WOW!
I no longer feel like the "Lone Ranger"!
I'll shortly be 72 and I've been riding since 1969 and due to people moving away, getting old and dying, I now have only one friend that I ride with and he lives 70 miles (1-1/2 hr.) drive away from me.
My wife hasn't been on her bike in 4 years and doesn't show any interest in it or riding with me (even on the Tri-Glide).
The friend that I ride with has barely ridden his Tri-Glide in the last few years as he was busy moving (twice) and doing home improvements and the Chinese Wuhan Virus outbreak really put a blanket on my riding in '20 and '22.
The last long trip that I have taken in years was the N.S/N.L trip that I took with my cousin from TN in 2019 and he just passed away late last year.
WOW again!
Since my original post I've lost a cousin (in TN) that I rode with since '74, we sold the wife's bike and my riding partner that I rode with since '08 "hung up his boots" and sold his Tri-Glide.
I'm thinking that we need to consider holding a "solo rider" convention somewhere mid-America
'course I'd be on my trike and I'd be 75 years old!
