You're right. Harley says you have to tune it. You were saying?

“ECM recalibration refers to the process of restoring the ECM's software to its original manufacturer settings

In effect one can ride it and it will adjust or take to dealer to have them set it, but it will need to be ridden. That’s not a tune.

A tune won’t hurt a stock bike either, you do you tho.

2020 CVO Road Glide: Right off the floor I had Vance & Hines Power Duals and S&S Grand Nationals installed. I absolutely loved how this setup felt as far as performance. However, the powder coating was junk on both and rusted out. After that I went with a D&D Billet Cat. I should have known from the previous experience with a Boarzilla that D&D was junk. Wasn't long after installation that started rusting out along with other quality issues. Incorrect fitment resulting in wearing a hole in my timing cover, muffler sliding back even with new hardware and torqued correctly, etc.

This winter I had the stock gloss black exhaust from a 2018 CVO Road Glide installed. Header decatted and Fullsac baffles in the mufflers. Not my favorite as far as tone but easily the best-looking setup and broad torque. I've logged about 10,000 miles since getting the bike back in February. Lots of rain and even some snow, and they still clean up like new. About every black set of aftermarket exhausts I've seen rusts. Harley exhausts are the only ones I've seen hold up including the matte black finish.

I'm on my second set. I started out with Vance and Hines Big Shots. Then after some performance upgrades I went to a Bassani Road Rage 2 into 1. I loved the V&H sound. But the Road Rage is growing on me. It doesn't have the decel pop that the Big Shots did.

I just put some Vance and Hines Short Shots Staggered on my Crossbones. They look amazing, and have a nice sound, but I want something that sounds more deep and throaty. So I decided to change these perfectly good pipes to a set of Cobra RPT Slip-ons, with the hope that the sound will be "better".

Do any of you do this as well? Changing perfectly good aftermarket exhaust systems to find just the right look and sound?
Good question Sanjuro. When I 1st started riding, I went to the Leesburg Bike Rally in FL. MAIN reason was to listen to pipes on baggers (HD's) and see which one I like.

Well, it was HOOKERS. <-- LUV'm!!

When HD modified the diameter of the slip on's, I did not want to get involved with manufacturing a reducer so the HOOKERs would fit the new HD exhaust diameter. So, the next best thing I found was Rinehart's. <-- Its been that since.

Bought the bike used with a set of V&H short shots I thought were too loud. Got a long set of double barrels that were also too loud. Looked for and found a complete set of the original exhaust which I put on and was happy with the sound. Added a 98" kit so the originals had to go for what I've finally ended up with, a set of Supertrapp Supermegs, 19 discs.

I just have to say , I think you have one of the best looking rides I have ever seen on this forum.
Very nice.
I'm not a diehard chrome guy , but you have that bike set up perfect IMO.

Only once per bike.

Measure twice, cut once.
