Lol. I needed that. Thanks!

Had 3 of each, and definitely prefer the M8s. Now I liked my TCs, each one more than the last, but anyone who says early twin cams weren't without problems is fooling themselves. Funny how quickly people forget things such as the cam tensioner issues on early twin cams.

Don't forget Evo's leaking base gaskets, melting ignition sensors, and faulty breather gear; though some believe they were god's gift to man. Remember "hear no evo, see no evo, ride no evo?"

I went from a twin cam, to a M8, back to a twin cam. I took a loss on that M8 to get back on a twin cam. Never could get that raw sound and feel that I liked with the M8

I this pretty much sums it up nicely.
As someone who likes to Farkle and ride more then wrench and repair, the M8 is super reliable and plenty of power for these types of bikes.

OP - Twin cams are a reliable mill, The first couple years of any HD are rough at best. The early M8`s were called mosquito killers due to oil pooling on top of the pistons & smoking like a 2 stroke when going down the road, The M8`s had their growing pain issues just like their predecessors. Not sure why anyone would make the comment about having to wrench on a TC, I just did a trip from PA to Texas & no problems, check out what Clammy has put on his Softail & where he has been.

The only parts the MoCo is doing away with right now is the accessories for the older bikes, my son in law whose state side deployed in Texas has his 2002 Heritage down there, rode it all year, I went down & we rode the Twisted sisters, 100-degree heat and neither bike had a problem...!

The M8 is the new platform and the MoCo is going to support it but it's not like the TC is without support, as said above everyone who gets the new platform thinks and brags' that it's the best thing ever, truth is & ive ridden both, the M8 is smoother, TC has that Harley feel but its lesser than the Evo or the shovel but still there. The M8 to me in stock form is very metric like - especially the Heritage. If I were to get a bike right now it would be (Ive been thinking) a 16 ultra or RG ultra with low miles or entry level new M8 RG to build on with accessories.

I would not get the first couple years of M8`s in the touring line & thats what I see a lot of right now at dealerships. so........... good luck on whatever you decide - Oh - the M8 is grown into a good mill but all the BS that its the best and smokes the TC is just that - BS, both will get you a ticket real quick.

Let’s not forget failure prone tappet rollers.
