My '08 Ultra Classic just turned over 700 flawless miles and I called the dealership today to schedule my 1,000 mile service. The soonest he could get me in is 9/12, which is 2 1/2 weeks away. And this, only after I "begged" a little, as the original appointment was going to be 9/24.
My question... if I go OVER the 1k mark, say perhaps put 1,200 or so on it, will I be in any kind of jeopardy with H-D and my warranty? It's very hard to calculate exactly when you will hit the 1K mark and to get the service scheduled on a timely basis. I'd like to do some serious riding this coming up Labor Day weekend, and may very well exceed the 1K mileage on the first day.
I tried synthetics in my 2005 FLSTSCi (softail springer classic) and the engine clatter was unbearable. Went back to regular 20w50 and no problems after that.
Mine had 1280 miles on it when I made it to the dealer for the 1K service. I'd ride it and enjoy the holiday weekend, but that's just me. Of course you could just do the 1K yourself and tell the dealer to pound sand.
My freind had 11,000 miles had change oil at 10,000 miles but not by harley. Tran neededfix bearing was falling out. Harley did not want to do warranty work. And one other thing the bear was a recall problem also. They gave him a hard time withextra warranty to 5 years and only first year of that warranty.
