I have the steel version. Has worked very well so far, but I think I have used it less than a dozen times. I had the aluminum one for a day. I realized it had no place to attach straps, so I swapped it out for the cheaper steel version. The straps give me peace of mind that I can't tip the bike off the jack while working.
I have two steel versions and they work just fine. I'm sure J & S fanboy will stop by soon to tell you otherwise.
Yeah, what's wrong with those guys? I mean, just because the J&S is a great jack and those that don't have one are so jealous of them doesn't mean that they should come in here and tell us that the piece of **** Harbor Freight jack is a piece of ****. Right?!!?

The Harbor Freight jack doesn't include a membership in a fanboi club like the J&S did. That's a big deal...
I've just recently retired my HF jack after about 11-12 years, done all kinds of work on the bike while on it.
The 0NLY thing I hated about it was the VERY quick release, the instructions say to push the lever ALL the way and, initially it would be quick, but then slow.
That abruptness is very disconcerting the first few times, seems it's gonna crash.
And it never lifted evenly, always front first then rear, the front wheel would be 6-8" off the floor before the rear would come up, never felt real stable, but I always tied it down with ratchet straps.
