For sure. I was never a "dog person" and never had any dogs as a child. I didn't really get it. Now as an adult and having had my first dog for a while, I totally get it. One thousand percent. My boy turns 10 this week!
Isn't the dog/human thing interesting? My old Dad, God rest his soul, was the archetype red-blooded American male of the Greatest Generation, extraordinarily strong physically and mentally, ex-Army drill instructor, a warrior, in his prime he feared no man. Yet he shed tears when his beloved little black feist dog died. I understand it now having gone thru raising that special once-in-a-lifetime one from a pup, and then losing them.
