OP - I’m not being snarky here, but I’d say use a paper map. At the very least, to map out the twisties. You know, river roads and such. Then plug the way points into a Garmin type device.

I found this on the web:

I like the Harley app. You can put your starting point and end point, then it will give you the suggested route based on your preference like "scenic", "fastest route", etc. BUT, the big thing is adding waypoints. You can add little waypoints to the route along the path you prefer to take, so you ensure it takes the roads you want. Unlike Google Maps and other GPS apps, the Harley app will actually route you along the route you want to take and not discard your preference.

Since you have the 2024 SG, if you also have the navigation enabled, you can transfer the route from the app to the bike and follow on screen. Otherwise, it will only display on your phone (there is no CarPlay capability with the H-D app), but you get the voice prompts over the radio anyhow.

PLUS, you log miles this way and get points to spend at Harley. It will also tell you if there are recalls, software updates, etc. for your bike.

100% agree with Brandon. HD app and ride planner with onboard navigation is all I use anymore after trying a few.

On the fly planning - Google maps with 'avoid highways' selected.

Order a Butler paper map for each state you plan on traveling in from Amazon.
They're made for motorcyclist. The have color coded scenic roads with descriptions.
After reviewing the Butler maps I add waypoints into Google Maps to route my path for the day.

I use the Hd maps on my bike, Twisty, scenic, avoidances' then to Highways. Seems like i only make to my final desertions' about half the time.I go ride they hotel with a bar close by, wake up in the morning look at the weather and go were the sun is shining. HD maps put me on roads I never would have found otherwise.

Some people like the BoomGTS Nav system. I'm not some people. I think it sucks ***. If you like to be directed in circles, have your destination on the opposite side of the road as what it tells you, go past your destination without warning, miss turns and on and on, then the BoomGTS Nav is for you.

Here is an amusing thread on the subject.

I use both google maps and the HD ride plan - as Brandon said, the key is waypoints.

One question - you have a 24 SC - I believe I say reports that you could indeed use carplay or AA with that system.
