Pulled my mufflers off for exh upgrade and they are all spattered with tar, now this tar is baked on from the heat, I tried gasoline, rubbing alcohaol, goo gone, 3M adhisive and tar remover, Braso, What the he$% will take this shi$ off? TIA
lotsa neet stuff - couple a beers might help - not in getting the crap off, just helps mood and opinion of the situation - if a couple dosen't work, try a couple more - check, then repeat till mood improves
hey there, don't know if this'll help, but I was able toget the road oil off my crome with 100% acetone. Availible at wal-mart in the finger nail (cosmetics) dept. just DON'T get it on your paint!!! hope it helps[8D]
There is a product specifically for bug and tar removal, any auto parts store will carry it. It smells just like Kerosene, and I suspect that's all it is. I've used it on my car, and it worked good, but that is not baked on as are your pipes. Let us know what works, good info to know.
Oven cleaner is supposed to be a great product to use on melted on rubber from your boots, but is very caustic. I'm sure it will work, but you may want to try a "weaker" solvent type product before you go to oven cleaner. With oven cleaner, you will want to mask off all other part of the bike to make sure you don't disolve paint etc. A solvent (like kerosene) can be applied with a rag, no worries of getting on other surfaces.
