Default Filter Cleaning

Running a Trident Cycles breadbox air cleaner that has a foam filter insert. Any recommendations on what to use for cleaning it?

The same stuff you use to wash a K&N. See link below for an example. If you're cheap you can just wash it use dishwashing soap.

Dawn dish soap makes more sense and is safe. But.....my Dad thought me to clean the sponge filter in the lawnmower with gasoline almost 50 years ago and that's how I've cleaned sponge filters ever since.

If he was like my dad he probably was smoking a cigarette while cleaning the filter with gasoline. The good old days.

I've only ran it since July. It's still in good shape.

That brought back a good memory. I ask my dad's friend if it was safe to smoke as he washed some carb parts in gas. He said this new gas ain't as dangerous as the old **** was.

If you want to play it safe I'd use mineral spirits or kerosene, higher flash points, to be real safe use Dawn or 409 cleaner. Rinse well with water, and dry out.
