I checked my bank account today and noticed that the payment for my husband's '06 Electra Glide (I set up recurring payments last week) was deducted from my account twice. So I called them to let them know about the situation and to let them know that I needed them to reverse the duplicate payment. The first person I talked to told me that I needed to contact my bank to tell them that one of the payments was unauthorized, and that my bank would take care of reversing the payment. Said that was the quickest way to get the funds back into my account. So I called my bank, she pulled up my account, found the withdrawal in question, and told me that she couldn't do anything, that Harley would have to reverse the payment since THEY were the ones who processed the withdrawal.
So I called Harley Credit back, and the second person I talked to was much more helpful. She actually took the time to research what happened. They claim that I entered the recurring payment twice. I'm not sure how I did that, since they claim there is a very prominent notice warning that a duplicate payment is about to be entered. I distinctly remember entering this payment last Friday, and there was no such notice.
To make a long story short, it's going to take them ten business days to process the payment reversal. I was not happy at all, to say the very least. I told them that I would remember that ten business day thing next time I had a payment due. For what it's worth, I've had the payments for MY bike set up on recurring payments through their system for almost a year now with no issues whatsoever. But I'm seriously considering cancelling them.
A friend of mine had the same thing happen on his first recurring payment. Sounds like the problem is on their end. They told him they would just skip the next month.
Well, it's a little comforting to hear that I'm not the only one this has happened to.
Normally, I'd accept just being able to skip a payment. However, I've already had to extend the budget for a few other things this payday, so really can't do that. Things like this always seem to happen at the WORST possible time.
I know that for the most part HD CSR are good but once in a while they are not so good.
My payments are due on the 15th, I make my payments online every month by the 10th OEM and its take HD credit almost 10 days to process my check.
Does anyone else have this issue?
I had this problem when I was using my bank's electronic bill payment system to make the payments on my bike. That's why I went with using the recurring payment system through them in the first place. At least that way they seem to withdraw the payment on the day I request it to be withdrawn. Like I said, I've had no issues with mine...this has been the first problem I've had.
Watch out for this one too. When I bought my bike I didn't pay attention to the due date which turned out to be the 25th of the month. I called andasked them to move it to the 1st. They told meI couldn't change it until after the first payment. So I included a note with the first payment on the 25th and asked them to change it to the 1st.
You guessed it, they did. Had to make two payments within the same week.[8D]
Yeah, the hubby's is due on the 28th of the month. I pay it on the first. I didn't bother asking them to change the due date...figured it wouldn't kill them for me to be three/four days behind the due date...and it's not late enough to harm our credit either. I definitely feel that way after what happened today. Screw 'em. Now I'm really glad I didn't worry about changing it after your comment, warthog.
My bike payment is due on the 14th and it is paid on the 15th. Gotta go with that military schedule!
i'm sorry you are having problems with them . i been with them for three years no problems so far . knock on wood they take it same time every month.i do leave enough money in there just in case to cover my rear. but i have my truck the same way .hope you get taken care of .

Never, never, never, never give ANYONE automatic access to your checking account. It may sound convenient, and you may save a quarter point or so on the interest rate, but as you've discovered, it's not worth it. Electronic payments are secure, fast, and convenient, but only if YOU'RE the one in charge of when the money is deducted from your account.
Of course, I probably don't need to tell you that now........

That's exactly the way I feel. I control what goes in & out of my account. Automatic payments suk! It's always difficult to correct their mistake at your expense.
