Or what happens when you have your genes cut off? I had that done about 5 years ago after my second was born...are they cut-off genes now?

That's 'cause they don't want dirty genes in the pool, contaminating the clean genes in the pool...
I guess the answer is to wash your ba...I mean make sure you've got your good genes, and like you said, all the cutoff genes aren't allowed to play anymore...
