I still remember when Toyota and Honda started hitting the roads in Canada way back… we thought they were shitboxes.

That's because they were.

Now they're considered two of the most reliable brands you can buy.

As someone said above, a Brazilian-made Honda doesn't compare to a Japanese-made Honda. And China can make extraordinarily bad items still, and almost certainly always will.

But they also have (as said above) a successful manned spaceflight program and a rover on Mars. Some of their manufacturing is world class.

I still think it's a bad idea to buy Chinese stuff if you have an alternative. The Chinese government requires all manufacturers to include whatever the Chinese government decides they want in there, and because of that the US government has banned Chinese manufacturers and products (like Huawei, and DJI) from anything sensitive like infrastructure and communications networks. And they were recently discovered to have put undisclosed radio communications devices in solar inverters, and as such, I think the US is ripping out and replacing all inverters in all US power stations. We don't know what the radios do or why they're there, but everyone learned a pretty big lesson when Hamas's walkie talkies all exploded and nobody wants another situation like that on their hands (pun intended).

Anybody saying "Made in China" automatically means bad manufacturing and bad products is at best ignorant; right up there with "the internet will never catch on" and "that newfangled electricity is too dangerous, I'd never have that in my house" and such. Chinese companies make some very good, even great products, but there are plenty of reasons someone might not want to send their money to Chinese companies and by extension the Chinese government, no matter how good the actual product may be.

And, for the most part, they were back then...rusted like shipwrecks. Especially in places that used salt on the roads in winter.

Americans financed Communit China's new economy and military, and people here still would rather spend money to bolster foreign economies than support their own country.

Even if you buy into the 'Global Economy' myth and distraction, you're still sending money overseas when you buy a foreign brand, even though they only build them here to save on shipping costs.

I would be happy to demonstrate my tax payer funded training, face to face.

Honda reliable ?

The only thing reliable about the three hondisasters I owned is that it's reliable I will never get sucked into that myth again.

Only enough, if you want to sucker Americans into buying cars from your country, declare war on the USA.
We'll blow up your old factories, then rebuild them with new factories. Worked for Germany and Japan, for Kore to some degree. We love our enemies more than America. I can't wait to see people telling us how their Iranian Putzalots are the bestest cars since Hitlers's revenge.

Americans are SO suckered by marketing. We are not the smartest consumers in the world, and seem intent on reducing America to being the best third world country in the world. We've been too busy tearing our own country apart to look past the borders.

Sorry. i wish peopke weren't so oblivious.
