There are bikes stolen during bike week every year. You have the opportunist waiting for all the beautiful bikes to go shopping. I would not be surprised of anyone taking precautions to protect their property.

Having had a bike stollen in 2023… I take extra precautions. I do several things.. I was always careful “where” I parked.. but they still stole it.
1) Subscription satellite.. if the Bike is moved I get a text immediately. A phone app that shows its location
2) An air tag with speaker removed. This works pretty well but I put it sorta obvious so it acts as a decoy, their believing he “got it” and doesn’t look for the Sat one.
3) Lock the ignition
4) Disc break lock with motion sensitive alarm
5) Hidden switch killing power to button.
And on my softail I actually have another additional AirTag with speaker removed.. thinking they would think no way someone would be as insane as to have three tracking devices on a bike. Set your notifications for the subscription version on vibrate and the loudest sound setting. Periodically check your apps to confirm it’s where you left it.

Ive heard that. We rode straight to the hotel and parked it in secure parking right next to the attendant. The wife wanted to ride the strip and I said no. It didnt move until we left. We were drinking so no way I was riding anywhere. We took Ubers to the spots we wanted to checkout.
Weather is great. Attendance is good though obviously not like 20-30 years ago. Cabbage Patch was lightly attended given the weather.
The only thing I would add to the list of good advice already provided in this thread about Florida police Bike Week GOTCHAs would be handlebar height above the armpits. Generally if you're not "That Guy" you're probably not going to get screwed with.
Not saying it doesn't happen, but it is not as rampant as the internet may make it seem.
I've parked on Main Street at times right in the middle of the action. I've also parked in the pay-to-park "secured" lots right-off Main Street without issue.
Been going since the '90s
Other than overnight at the motel, I have never locked my bike(s) - sometimes not even then.
Yes, there are thefts, but the amount of bikes that are out there rubbed against the Plain Jane bikes that I have and have had there, well, lets just say that the odds are in my favor.
We are still here having a great time. Met @Rains2much for lunch and bumped into @02fx. Riding all over, Kennedy Space Center yesterday was worth the ride, we even saw a nighttime rocket launch from the beach Monday night. St Augustine today for lunch, probably stop in Flagler on the way back. Hairball at the Spoke last night was very good, place was packed. Got there early and parked in the middle on the cobble stones. We went to see the manatees.
I have not been stabbed or had my bike stolen, I guess I am lucky like that.
