Most Traffic Enforcement around here use Lidar, laser speed detection. It has a Scope like a Rifle and when they pull the Triger you aer Screwed!

As a police officer, I don't typically pull bikes over unless they are driving like a complete a$$. I will say, if I pull you over, I am usually making up my mind about if you are getting a ticket or not as I am walking up and in the first bits of conversation. If I see a radar detector, you are definitely getting that speeding ticket as most often than not it shows intent to consistently speed at rates that will get you pulled over. As far as Waze, it only works if others are out and about and marking us on the app.

Appreciate the insight.

On my Triglide, I made a radar detector mount for my Escort detector out of some 1/8" black ABS plastic that's held to the bike on using 3M VHB double sided tape (which holds really well when properly applied) and with heavy duty Velcro to hold the detector to the mount. I have it hard wired to the power port wiring behind the fairing that's only powered when the trikes running. The mount is very solid and the detector is easily removable with the Velcro, though I'll admit it can be difficult to hear the notifications over the motor.

I learned a long time ago that you have a better chance of getting a warning or getting the charge reduced to nothing ín court if you don't have a radar detector. It's hard to get sympathy if you show a clear intent to speed. Got pulled over in Maryland coming back from Daytona this year doing 75 in a 35. Could have had my bike confiscated by a new law they just passed. I didn't have a radar detector. He gave me a warning. I was very grateful. It would have been MUCH different if I had a radar detector mounted, for sure. A detector doesn't work if they time you between two marks.
