I cruise up and down the interstate alot, commuting to work sites. Been wearing a 1/2 helmet for a while but twice in the past two weeks, I've had stuff hit me in the face. Gravels I think. Last time brought blood on my cheek and nearly knocked me off the bike.
Decided to get a full face helmet. Wasn't sure I'd like it but I have to say it actually makes riding more enjoyable. No wind noise, I feel more confident knowing I have more protection, and it didn't really affect my vision. If anything, it improves my vision since I don't squint anymore.
I still use my 1/2 when scootin around town or if i expect the ride to never really get above 45-50 mph. At 70+, the full face is definately a must for me now.
Just thought I would post my personal impression in case any other riders are on the fence about going full face.
I commute 160 miles round trip 3-5 times a week, and that got me to start wearing a full-face. Was just getting to work too dirty... and it's good for all kinds of weather... never thought riding in the rain at highway speeds could be comfy... but it is.
I wear a 3/4 Nolan with a built in sunvisor. It has a full face shield that I can push up when stopping for gas or what ever. Much cooler to use here in Arizona, it protects against bugs, wind and rain as well as a full face but not against face plants!!!
I wear a Shoei rf1000 and love it. Thought it was a good idea after I saw a photo of a lady's chin after she hit the pavement.....
yes... another reason I got the full. Somebody on this forum also posted a picture of their full face helmet after a recent fall. The whole front of the helmet (where his face is) looked like someone took a grinder to it. I could not imagine what would've happened if he didn't have that full frontal protection.

+1 on the Shoei rf1000. Got one for my BW and she says it is the lightest, most comfortable helmet that she has ever used. A bit pricey, but that face is well worth it!
I wear an icon moto full face. I wanted to keep the front fender off my bike and I ride in the rain alot... Full face was the only way to go! I still miss my EZ rider usa flag 3/4 helmet though, it's so pimp!
