Also, once you loose a few close friends to motorcycle accidents the danger of our lifestyle really starts to sink in.
Pay attention to the traffic report on the radio during commute hours and you'll be amazed at the percentage of accidents that involve a motorcycle: vastly disproportionate to the ratio of bikes to cars. Now, really imagine what it might be like to go down--seriously, think about it--with your face slamming into the hot, rough asphalt at 50 MPH and sliding along it for 20 or 30 ft, ripping the flesh (and your nose) off your face, breaking your jaw from your skull. Imagine your head bouncing off a fender--see the fender in your mind--and ask yourself if the freedom of a 3/4 or 1/2 helmet is worth the potential downside. It's a personal decision for sure, but I think far too many riders have an "it won't happen to me" attitude and haven't really imagine what it might be like. I'd bet that riders who've been down hard--and who choose to get back on--rarely wear anything but a full face.
did you try on your hjc before you ordered or order by measurment???
My wife & I both have HJC's. I have the AC-12, she has an FS-10. It seems, at least, all the metric shops carry HJC's. We went to a few shops and tried on a bunch of helmets. Once we decided on the HJC's, we each tried on a few in the particular style we wanted, to get the size down. Then we ordered them online and saved nearly $100 per helmet.
I wear a full face in the winter. I keep my windshield on year round to deflect early morning bugs, gravel, and the wind. Unbelievable the difference at 70MPH with/without windshield. Had a huge bug coming at me yesterday. Leaned my head over, closed my eyes for a split second, splat.......hit the shield. Glad I didn't catch that one with my teeth!
