My Sportster is my second bike, and I'm only 26. I bought my first bike, a Suzuki GS parallel twin at age 19 and bought such a bike only to sharpen my skills and the inexpensive price (@ $1500).

I bought the Sporty this past 4th of July and absolutely love it. Yeah, it's the smallest Harley, but it's also the oldest (still made). It's like the older brother that's not big enough for contact sports, but he's still the oldest.

I bought my first harley when I was 20 a superglide. I had crotch rockets before that since 17 and grew out of it as most do. I probably would have bought a Harley then if I had the money, but for a few grand you can buy a rice burner so its hard to beat that when youre young. I like to see young guys and girls on harleys though I think its pretty cool, I am 24 now and am still in the lower eschelon in regards to age with the harley scene.

I spent alot of time on friends street bike and wanted one for a while. But i got smart and got a harley like i've always wanted. Im 21 and my first bike is my 08 night train. Most of my friends ride crotch rockets and no one in my family on either side ever owned motorcycles. Me an my brother have wanted one now i got mine and hopefully in spring he will get the street bob he wants. Hopefully we can get dad on one this summer just gotta get him on a bike and work his way up to a harley.

Wow, this is an old thread. But, hey, since it's back, I suppose I'll chime in. I'm 24 and ride a Heritage. Had a Road Star for a couple years before that. I'm the youngest cruiser guy I know. Anyone else my age is into sport bikes. Harley's trying real hard to appeal to the younger market. I've think they've got a good start with the Dark Customs. Especially the Nightster. But they still have a long ways to go.

I bought my Sportster when I was 19. I'm 21 and bought my Road King in August.
I'm usually one of the youngest people at Harley Events.

Im 21, live in new york, and own a 750 metric cruiser i got for a grand...

Nearly every single person my age owns a sportbike. I want to like them, I appreciate the performance they offer, but could never understand why so many people my age think thats Bas *** and a cruiser isn't.. haha. I mean, to me its...

plastic vs chrome
loud deep pipes vs ...a sewing machine
laid back vs hunched over grinding on your *****

I simply dont freakin get it... WHATS SO HOT ABOUT SPORT BIKES??? Im not trying to diss them out, I just dont get it.

To me I want I bike designed for riding... not racing. sportbikes are designed for racing, which is done or meant for the track. Cruisers are for the street. I dont care to zip around, but im at the age where I should like this ****...

Can someone shine some light on the sportbike for me cause I want to understand what it is that makes everyone my age get one but me. And I know its not money related.
