Default PLEASE HELP ASAP FLH CLUTCH

OK, I ASKED THE OTHER DAY ABOUT THE CLUTCH ON MY 78" FLH IS IT A WET OR DRY CLUTCH. I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS A WET CLUTCH. SO I REPAIRED IT AS IF IT WAS WET AND IT IS STILL SLIPPING, HOW CAN YOU TELL IF IT IS A WET OR DRY AND DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGETIONS WHAT COULD BE WRONG?

Thing is on a bike this old is that the clutch plates may be wet plates, dry plates, or wet-or-dry plates. Most everyone I know, me included, always replaced the stock plates with Barnett wet-or-dry plates. And most everyone I rode with disconnected the oil lines to the primary and then put in some ATF to lube the chain. But who knows what you have? If you've adjusted the clutch properly and it is still slipping, it is probably worn out. Get some Barnett wet-or-dry plates, get rid of the oil lines to the primary and seal it off. When you have the new plates installed and adjusted according your service manual, add Ford ATF to the primary. Leave the bike on the side stand, and add enough ATF to come to the bottom of the clutch basket as seen through the derby cover.

The ATF will lube the chain quite well, and works better than regular motor oil on the plates. And added benefit is now the primary oil, polluted with clutch plate debris, won't recirculate through your engine.

Skip, you ever thought to put all that knowledge in a book? If you do, or have, autograph a copy and send it to me COD.
