Question
I was rear-ended Monday at a stop light on my 07 Roadking.Kid traveling about 45 mph.Adjuster said from what he can just see its about 6K.
Will likely be more after teardown at dealer.Rear compressed to the engine.
At what point does the insurance company total out a bike? 75% of value?Bent frame?
Any help would be appreciated. Oh...Only heavy roadrash and stiches.Body feels like it went through meatgrinder.

RE: Question
At a 45mph speed differential?? The adjuster is possibly smokin rope with that repair $ estimate.

RE: Question
I agree with Big Sled. I have had accidents where I repaired the bike myself for $100 and the adjusted totaled it. Never have had a bent frame wreck. Glad you are not hurt worse...I'd say it should be a total for sure...

RE: Question
Can't imagine that kind of impact not twisting the frame at the swingarm mount. I'm suprised your adjustor even offered up a guess, but it don't mean much. Wait until the real estimate comes in. I don't know the percentage they go on, but they know that even the shop estimate always heads northward by 20 to 30 %. Chances are good your lookin at a total if thats what your hopin for.

RE: Question
i have a buddy that swerved to miss a deer, went in the ditch. front tire went in a hole and sent the bike cartwheeling multiple times. ended up bending the frame and swing arm on his 12 year old bad boy. we figured his insurance would total it but nope...they replaced replaced everything including frame and swing arm, took almost a year to get the bike back.

RE: Question
Pretty sure the insurance company would take the cheapest way out (duh.) If the blue book value is $12,000 and it's $10,000 to fix it, they'll probably cut you a $10,000 check. Not 100% sure that applies in all cases, but I'd bet money on it.
