The ride down is also great. Take your time. It usually takes me a few days to get the 150 miles to Key West from my house in Fort Lauderdale. We ride fast until hitting "The Last Chance" in Homestead. Than to either the "Unwinder" or go the other way to "Alabama Jacks". Flip a coin at this fork in the road as that will decide your whole life (na..) Next, when entering Key Largo, try the âCaribbean Club". That is the first bar you come to. Next pack up and go next door to the âItalian Fishermanâ. Now when you leave there, cut across the street about ½ mile down and go to the Paradise Lounge. Use to ride with him about 15 years ago. Good clams on the ½ shell. When you leave there cross the parking lot and go toâŚâŚ. Now you see why sometimes we never make it all the way down on any given weekend.
You do not need me, you will do just fine on your own.

This is where they kept Dr. Samuel Mudd. This was the guy who set John Wilkes Booth 's leg right after he shot Lincoln. Dr. Mudd was imprisoned at Ft. Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas about 70 miles from Key West. In the summer of 1867, yellow fever broke out on the island. After the fort's physician died on September 7, Dr. Mudd took a leadership role in aiding the sick. Dr. Mudd, himself, came down with the disease but recovered. Because of his outstanding efforts, a petition to the government in support of Dr. Mudd was signed by all noncommissioned officers and soldiers on the island. There were no bars on the cell as there was no place to escape. Hence the saying that; âHis name is mudâ. Dr. Mudds cell was on the second tier to the left of the doorway where the bridge over the moat is/was. President ANDREW JOHNSON pardoned him. Now look at all this good sh*t you learn becoming Biker Trash. BTW, they kept sharks in the moat. Try skinny dipping with you honey at night there.
Go adopt one of earnest hemingways 6 toed cats, they are in danger of going to the pound because they roam off the property. I was thinking I would like to have a couple, send them over here. You can also wade out in the water a small bit and be in the southern most tip of the United States.. The key lime pies is not to be beat either. There is plenty to do there. And mel fishers is a good choice like you said.

I am headed to Key West for a couple days before heading back up to Daytona for Biketoberfest. Anything that is a must see/do down there? I want to see Mel Fisher's museum of artifacts from the Atochia. Plan on parking the bike for 2 days and drinking myself into oblivion...lol.
I also heard there were some 'clothing optional' bars... sounds nice on the surface, but not sure it would be on par with Lollypops in Daytona...lol.
On your way down, before you leave themainland, check out Everglades Natl. park. Especiallyif your camping, once youget into the keys, its almost all corral, tuff to drive tent pegs into that !

Cat - the OTHER white meat...lol. sorry, I don't have much use for cats.
