No Stabil in EFI bikes!!!! Will gum up the injectors!!! How do I know? My dealer was honest enough to tell me they learned the hard way. But, what do I know.

RE: Fuel Stabilizer
I use Stabil in the quads when I put them to bed for the summer, and in the Seadoos when they go sleepie for the winter. They are down for a few of months. A couple of bucks is cheap insurance and a lot easier than cleaning carbs and draining gas tanks.

Your dealer is full of it. The reason their injectors gummed up is they didn't use a fuel stabilizer like Stabil! Just do a search on the web, millions are using Stabil in fuel injected engines without problems... RV's, boats, cars, motorcycles, you name it. I've used it over Colorado winters with over ten FI bikes. No problems. Go to the Golden Eagle web site and look at the FAQ section, under "Is Stabil safe to use with fuel injected engines"...
"Absolutely yes! STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer prevents the formation of gums and varnish that can clog fuel injectors, and new formula STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer now has a fuel injector cleaner to further improve your engineâs performance."

Either your dealer is full of it or you have it backwards. When my kids were riding their Honda 70's, I had to pull the carburetors every spring and soak them in cleaner before they would run. My dad told me to try Sta-Bil and it ended my problems. Put the required amount in the tank, shake it up and then run the engine for a few minutes to make sure it gets into the system. All fuel systems have small orifices (jets or injectors) that get clogged up with varnish. I may be wrong but I think fuel storage problems started when they stopped making leaded fuel.
Yeh, use it, even in EFI equipped bikes. Trying to lite it is not a good comparison as when used it actually mixes chemically with the fuel, preventing the gummup condition which also can mean expensive repair bills to EFI systems.
After reading the responses to my question (thanks, all), Sta-Bil went into my tank yesterday. Even if I get to ride it more often than some of you do during the winter months, the additive still can't hurt. Besides, it may help keep the injectors clean in the process.
i havent had the need yet to put sta bil in any of my vehicles as they are all used on a fairly regular basis but this thread talking about it got me thinking i have a generator i bought 3 yrs ago used it for 4 hours and stored it away and pretty much forgot about it i might try it in there before starting it or is there something else i should use or should i just dump the gas and put new in it just wondering i might need a little project with christmas time off from work is coming and all
