JMO but doesn't his clutch cable in his picture look too long? I am thinking it might be 6" too long. What do you others think?
I assume that the cables are a little long from the previous owner replacing the handlebars. I will tell you, though, that the clutch cable looks WAAAAAAAY too long with it loose like that. It should look much, much better tied to the frame and routed up behind the headlight. It still may be too long, but it shouldn't look nearly as bad as it does now.
Chris
All the cables look way too long, even the throttle ones on the other side. However, that is a great looking bike. You should be very proud...
Thank you and I am proud of it. It's my first and I think it looks great too! The salesman kept suggesting I buy these newer 1200 Sporty's, but I kept going back to this '92 Dyna. To me, this bike looks much nicer than the others he showed me, even if it is a little older.
Cables are available in standard and oversize lengths. If the previous owner swapped handlebars to the ones that are on your bike now, he probably had a higher rise and those cables were fitted to it. You can buy standard length cables to replace those if you want to reign in some of that slack.
You know, if it were me, rather than replacing the cables, I'd change the bars and put a set of mini apes on it. It might provide even a little more comfort riding as you won't be leaning forward so much. Again, great looking bike!
I like the looks of these lower bars, but yeah, they may end up being uncomfortable after a while. I did manage to remove the clutch handle and re-route it. YAY FOR ME! I DID SOMETHING RIGHT!!! (even though it was simple.)
I think the shop may get me in tomorrow to install those turn signals and grips. If so, I'll ask them about replacing the throttle, idle, and clutch cables with shorter braided cables. They are definitely too long. Even with the clutch cable routed better, it's still too long.

Trust me, mini-apes are way more comfortable. And I feel your wrenching pain. I suck at it too.
