Default Heading up to Spearfish, SD.....

If anyone really gives a rats azz... on Oct 22, I am heading up to Spearfish, SD for some training..... Lehman Trikes Inc....

I'l be there 'til Saturday, 27 Oct, when I head back to "da 'Burgh"....

What kind of beer do they serve up there???? Is there any Yuengling or Sam Adams????

Other than Mt. Rushmore orCrazy Horse, is there any other points of interest that could pique my interest???? Tittie/Poon bars are highly encouraged.....

Well, you'll only be a few miles from Sturgis, Deadwood, Lead. Check out the antique bikes at the Broken Spoke Saloon in Sturgis while you enjoy that beer. If you're into aviation, drive over to Ellsworth Air Force base at Rapid City and go through their military museum.

Once you anywhere close to SD, free maps of the Black Hills are available at any gas station, motel, bar, etc. The place if full of stuff of all types to see. Nearly every road is a scenic experience, but two of the best at the Spearfish Canyon Road which starts right there in Spearfish, and the Iron Mountain Road on the way to Rushmore, where the tunnels frame Mt. Rushmore as you go through them.

You'll also be pretty close to Devil's Tower in Wyoming.

Bob, you have a pretty tight schedule so I don't think you have a lot of "tourist time". If you are riding a trike in the evenings, please be careful of the deer! The boys are out for tittie & poon as well this time of the year. There is a m/c museum in Sturgis and you can always pop in to Black Hills HD on the way to Rapid City. Depending on the weather and time, a trip to Devils Tower would be my choice. Why not play the role of a naive HD owner and ask Black Hills HDsome real questions? You know, the ones you have the answers to before you ask the question.
Take care, sorry can't recomend any beer unless it's Canadian. By the way, hope you have fun being exposed to this Canadian trike which is the envy of the civilized trike world.

Ride Needles Highway; there are two one-lane tunnels cut through rock which frame Mt. Rushmore in the distance as you enter--IIRC we road Needles Hwy coming from Deadwood.

MNPGRider, thanks... bossman (owner)was stationed at Ellsworth... said that what they had there to offer can't compete with the new Museum at Quantico (I am a retired Marine), but I will have a looksie, for historical sake...

johnny canuck... good sugg... my luck, they will have me pegged from once I enter the store.. I'll still try though... getting a rental car, so them horny bucks can get some cage....

Keystone... Long time no see old friend... Sorry, gotta fly on the boss' dime.... BTW, Erica (Gramma Marie's grand daughter and Eric's daughter) is getting married in less than a month. She is the blonde in motor clothes.... Smart gal... she is marrying a Marine... He was one of mine when I was on recruiting duty....

Harleypingman.... that does sound like a Kodak view... thanks...

billk..... Only need 1, and it's attached.......(Too bad momma's got the stones in a Crown Royal bag....)

Go to Devil's Tower, it's worth the trip. In the Black Hills go to Hill City and eat at the Alpine Inn (probably only place open there this time of year) you can get a 10 oz filet mignon with a salad and potato for less than $10 and it rivals any filet you'll eat anywhere. Ride the Needles highway for sure, and go through Custer wildlife reserve.....lots of critters and a very scenic drive. If you have a few driving hours to spare, got to the badlands.....awesome views!Last year the first week on November we rode from Deadwood to Devils' Tower, then on to Sheridan, Wyoming at the base of theBighorns, spent the night and went into Montana the next day to see the Little Bighorn battlefield, andreturned to Spearfish/Deadwoodthe same day (coming back through Montana).
I envy you, I wish I was back there again this year.

Tip: wear warm clothes.........many mornings at this same time last year were in the single digits

Yeah it will be chilly there and as soon as the sun goes down it will get REAL COLD! Bring all your leathers and watch out for the deer.
