so up north here the cold weather is here, soon to be followed by ice and snow. so the bike is put to hibernation for a bit.

for those of you who don't ride it during these next 4 months or so - does your riding skill degrade over the winter.

in the spring are your turns not as smooth as they were the last time you rode. do you take turns a little slower with less lean. your stops just a bit more wobbly then before.

not that it last for ever, but just ain't quit there to begin with.

 

as I live in so cal that would be ano however as I am already 66 and will hopefully be 67 next year that could be a yes....

 

I live in the snow belt and find that my cornering skills degrade slightly over winter. I'm talkinghigh speed cornering in sweepers. I've been riding 30+ years and have learned to take it easy in the spring... sort of like walk before you run.

Sorry I/we don't have that problem down here..I can't imagine parking my bike for 3-4 months a year..Sorry guys/gals that must really freakin' suck.....

 

I would think you would get a little rusty at any task requiring coordination if you haven't performed that task in a lengthy period of time. Luckily living where I do I don't have to concern myself with that as we don't have any "down time".

 

Yeah...IF I had to do that parking it thing...I'd move!

 

I wish it was only 3-4 months!! We will ride til the snow flies but since we had our first snow yesterday the serious stuff probably isn't too far off. This year our last snow was in mid April so...I just started riding summer of 06 so when I got back on this year it took me a few rides to get back to where I had been. I put on about 8000 miles this summer so I hope that next spring I will have a shorter "break in" period.

 

No, mine degrade over the summer some though, because it's too hot to ride here!
