Hey kechour....

That would be great. I didn't want to call them until I had the chance to actually read the numbers off the helmet's tag when I got home tonight.

Thanks,
Brian

Well that does raise some concern now doesn't it. As long as its legal is all I really care about but I'm interested to hear what they say. I do love my helmet though.

If you are going to wear the helmet anyhow, wouldn't you want it to at least be as safe as it can be?

I understand a lot of people choosing comfort over protection, and thats fine. But I would be pretty upset if I bought a DOT helmet that was not. Especially if I was injured as a result.

I didn't buy it because it was the safest, I bought it cause it was the smallest. I just don't want a ticket for having a non DOT helmet, as long as it keeps me from getting a ticket then its doing is job. There are alot of DOT helmets on that list that failed the test but I still feel alot safer with mine than a $25 novelty helmet.

OK, I got the response from Advanced Carbon Composites here it is:

“Thanks for the email.........We had a problem with our foam liner which is made of a material the Govt mandated be replaced with a material that does not use Freon to blow the foam. and had to scramble to find a replacement and have since done so but did not know that the new one would fail at the prescribed density.........Long story short ...it has been resolved with a lot of work..........thanks for the interest”

So I emailed back and basically, check your helmet, if it is Model EXT-001 or Model EXT-002. If it is EXT-001 they will update it to Ext-002. Which one you guys have?
