All,
I am looking at an 02 Road King and it has 32,000 miles. The bike is at a dealership and has been inspected and does not have a scratch on it. Is this a lot of miles on a 2002 and how many miles can I expect to get from the bike before having to do a rebuild? Thanks
The bike has been ridden for at least 5 years and possibly even close to 6 depending on when it was bought. Average that out and that's not a lot of miles. It just means the bike has been ridden and not sitting around looking pretty. Which also probably means, considering the visual condition, that it's been taken care of. If I'm going to buy a bike that is 5 or 6 years old, I'd almost rather it have some miles on it than to see it hasn't even ever made it to its second service level (5000 miles). I hear people all the time talking about how they found this 03 whatever-glide-tail with only 3000 miles on it. That means it was owned by someone that just wanted to look at it or have other people look at it. And who even knows when the oil/fluids were last changed.
There is no fixed limit on how far the bike will go. Take care of it and it will take care of you for a long time. If you are satisfied with the bike and getting a fair price on it and satisfied that it has thoroughly been checked out - buy it.
