Having said that Billy Lane is a man who at best was driving with a suspended license and hit and killed a man. At worst he is reckless drunk who thought he could walk on water and despite numerous warnings proceeded to drive a vehicle, cross a double yellow line, drive with a suspended license, and take an innocent life. He has hurt the industry and his brothers and sisters. Corporate sponsorships are gone, appearance money is less, and all that I have spoken with say the damage is pretty severe.
Went to the Iron Angel Rally in Liberty,Tx. today with a buddy, he was gettin his bike dynoed with Cycle Solutions. I was not impressed.
We left there and went to Sour Lake, Tx. to a Mexican Resturant. I pulled on the side, there was a old pan head with the shifter on the tank and a belt drive primary, seen a flat head next to it and another bike.
3 dudes came walkin over to git on the bikes I told the dude gittin on the pan next to me, Old Pan's never die do they. He replied no ! The other 2 dudes said something like you don't know who yer talking to. Old lady said they ain't too friendly are they. I didn't say much else to em. I tend to **** some folks off being a alabama redneck.
They pulled off and a truck pulling a trailer with a Ford. They pulled out on Hiway 105 headed west.
Two young boys came over and said do you know who you was talking to. I said a few dudes on a bike. They said no ! you was talkin to Billy Lane the custom bike builder, he built a bike in Florida yesterday.
My wife said they need to learn to be more friendly if people are gonna care who they are.[/align]
Next time, offer to buy him a fifth of Jack, then he will bow at YOUR feet........
how many times do you got to lose your right to drive for the same thing. before you learn it should'nt take killing some one.when you are in the public eye's you got to be alittle more down to earth.carboad was no way out of the way making small talk the way he did. billy lane has got to take the blame for what he did and he did it.and should face the music no differnt than you or i.
I always loved the line, "Do you know who you were talking to?" Depending on who it was, I might answer, "yes" or "no." Either way, I don't give a crap myself. I was never impressed by fame because it usually was followed by incredible ego. Not always, but usually.
"and I for one feel just as sorry for Lanes family as I do for the dead guys." WTF You got to be kidding, Billy's family will have him home for the holidays and I can't say the same for the family of Gerald Morelock.
I've met him a couple of times and he was very friendly both times. The man that was killed in the accident was Gerald Morelock and I garauntee BL will NEVER forget it. As for the prosecutors on this board, I hope you never have to live with a mistake like he will have to live with. Trust me, nothing you will say could ever make him feel worse than he already does. I forgot about the Liberty Rally today, glad I didn't waste my time.
Sorry, but he made the choice to drink and drive. He killed this other person. I have no guilt telling it like (as I see it) it is. I hope he never forgets as well as learns a very valuable lesson and passes this on to others. Then and only then will this other mans death not be in vain.
