I paid around $700 two years ago. The only cost is for the install, no monthly payments or service charges after that.

Seems pricey (do you get an insurance discount) for something that at best will probably just get your bike back in pieces. I don't know about your area but few police depts in mine are even equiped with lojack receivers. They have to be within a certain range of the stolen bike to pick it up. And then they have to track it.

I suppose you could get lucky. A cop could pick it up on its way to the chop shop. I don't have any security system right now except the key. I thought about an alarm but if they're anything like what they have on cars, going off when the wind blows, I don't want any parts of one.

If it gets stolenI have insurance. It may be a good excuse to move up to an Ultra Classic.

You live in Trenton and don't have a security system? No sense talking to you about Lo Jack, you wouldn't understand anyway.

I got it on my last scooter back in September. IIRC it ran me about $1050 for the device and theinstall.

What royally pissed me off about it was that the sales guy told me over and over about the $2500/$5000 guarantee for not finding it within 24 hours/30 days and how cool it was and how the whole package worked. Lo and behold ... I get the LoJack packet about a month after riding the thing home only to find out that if it is stolen outside one of the covered counties I get NADA! Nutt'n! I get f*ck-all if it's stolen in Boone or Wilmington (the two places the wife and I travel to most often)!

Nice little tidbit to leave out, yes? Neither theLoJack pamphlet nor website clues you in to that little secret. It is my opinion (worth what you pay for it) that the sales staff at #$%& Harley-Davidson in !#$%^&*#$%, NC intentionally did not mention this and led me to believe there were no stipulations (he gets a commision on LoJack, I'd wager). I called the owners of the shop and left a message about their sales tactics and intentional misrepresentation (very professional and courtious ... no cuss'n or yell'n) and got a call from the LoJack Salesman in Raleigh, NC to clarify. I still don't buy his schpeal .... your **** gets stolen outside a covered county ... you're toast. Better have good insurance, bubba.

Needless to say I never received a call from the owners nor did I get my HD survey from !#$^& HD in !#$%^&*#$%, NC that they made such a big deal about when I bought my scoot .... 'cause I was going to remember that f#ck'n I took on LoJack, and they knew it. Didn't wanna blow their CS Survey average, I reckon.

Would I do it again? What do you think?

It's a rip ... spend the $1000 on an insurance upgrade and a better seat.

That's exactly what the stealer asked me "you live in Trenton and are buying a brand new HARLEY and don't want us to install a security system on it? I said NOPE. Then he said " I guess there's no sense in talking to you about Lojack, is there?. NOPE again.

I hope the $700 was well spent, if only to give you some peace of mind. I'm just not convinced that it's worth it myself.

Don't know where they got that **** about $2500/$5,000 if not found. The literature says they'll refund the cost of the LoJack (up to $595) if not found within 24 hours in the first two years after install.
