The cold made me do it. I have a half , and a 3/4, But the cold air makes my lips go numb. I got it today ( Fed-x). It's a modular, and I like it already. I went for a ride with it on and no cold air in my face. I bought it 1 size larger so it wouldn't press my face so much. Sure is quiet in thereNot a helment fanatic, at times in the summer(at Myrtle Beach) I won't wear one. But most of the time I do. I'm ready for the cold now.
I really like my full face helmet. Its what I learned to ride with, and I rode with it until late fall when I Finally had to get a half. I love the half, but today when it started snowing on my way home from the shop, I was really glad to have that full face on.
No need to apologize for a full face helmet.I've been wearing one since the 70's for one reason.I ride aggresively, and even if iI didn't,I'm not taking any chances.Full face hemet, leather jacket, gloves etc.Watching guys and gals unprotected gives me the *******.Ok,I grew up around the race track, but that is a good thing. If you crash enough times,( and you will if you race)you look at those that are unprotected as idiots. I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but it's the truth.
South Carolina does not require helments , so when riding with my friends I'm the only one with a helment. Fine with me , each to his own. I'm a live and let live kind of guy.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist (or should I say a helmet scientist) to figure out that a full-face helmet would offer better cold weather protection - in addition to better fall protection as well.I alternate betweenthefull face helmet in cooler weatheranda half-helmet in keeping with the cruiser-biker stereotype. The good thing here is we still havetheoption to choose our helmet types.
One of myrather ironic (although, I must admit - enjoyable)observations about full face helmet use was this girl riding on the back of a crotch rocket with her guy. He only had swim trunks on. She, on the other hand, waswearing a very nice full face helmet along with high-top leather sneakers - and the smallest bikini I have seen in some time. Not exactly a poster child for the motorcycle safety foundation, but the view was pretty nice.
