Well if he wants to hop off the back, and ride his own, I don't mind.[sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=grinangel.gif]
Then we also have the option of a "family ride", and we could each take one of the kids
My ole' Lady is simply too..err...dumb to ride. She rear ended a guy at a stop sign, because she was texting me..ugh. Thankfully she likes to ride on the back of my bike...but right now we are going through some ish, and I took the rear seat off my bike till she can "play nice".

I don't mind being 2-up... that way the brunt of the responsibility for a safe trip rests on my shoulders. I have had no vehicular accidents in any form of public transportation I have operatedfor almost 3 decades. This includesthose operated in the past (semi-trucks), or currently operatenow (my autos, even railroad locomotives). I intend to do everything in my power to continue accident free transporatation. (Of course, we cannot control what others do... but we can sure watch out waaay ahead and try to anticipate potential accident situations before they become one.)
I surrender that once she gets aboard a bike. When out in the dirt on our bikes, I found myself CONSTANTLY looking out for her and pointing out things ahead of time, looking over my shoulder to make sure she's coming along fine, etc. Though I enjoyed riding with her, I enjoyed my own riding far less.
That COULD be the case if she starts riding her own cruiser.
However, she DOES like the sensation of riding IF its riding she's comfortable with. (That is, easy mountain trails, dirt roads, or forest roads, etc.) I suspect she could find a lot of enjoyment in riding a cruiser bike, for it will contain many ofthe things she enjoys about riding without the things she doesn't. However, the trade off is you now have to contend with moving predators that are waiting to kill you. Trees and rocks (etc) are stationary... semi trucks, irresponsibly driven cagers and such are not.
Of course, it is a ways down the road before we will seriously consider her own cruiser bike... so at this point it's not an immediate issue.
Hmmmm.

I like having my wife riding solo along with me. I don't look out for her anymore than I would someone else riding behind me. I have the same uneasy feelings if I come across something in the rode until I know eveyone has passed safely.
On another note a light changed to yellow on a highway where the speed limit is 55. We were running 60. I stopped quickly but my wifes breaks locked and she passed me tires screaming. She handled the bike well but I did get a sick feeling. I was told that quick stops on a bike with under 300 miles were a little iffy. Now we know what that means. I think I sould have went under the yellow and let her come too rather than stoping fast.
I probably put her in an unsafe position. I will react different next time.
My wife rides her own (trike cause she is vertically challenged) and has for several years. The hardest decission was to let my daughter get her own bike. Talk about feeling helpless, the first time she left the driveway by herself, I felt so empty. he loves riding as much as we do.
I triedtalking her into taking a MSF course and then getting a bike for her if she passed.Mine has no desire to ride her own. She is just fine riding Bitch when I let her ride that is.
I have to agree with several of the others. I like my wife behind me as we are one. She has taken the riders edge course, passed, she has her own bike, a 1200L sportster. I remember our first trip out on the major roadways. I thought oh no she is not ready, she made it just fine. She has rode now with our HOG chapter on a few rides. Our HOG chapter has two groups; More seasoned riders, and those that want it a bit more slower, plus our fellow riders all are real good about looking at for each other. I'm sure as most we will always be watching over our special ones. My wife will also tell you that is her throne on the King and she has no intentions of giving it up.
