Here we go!

Kind of reminds me of a song. "This could be the start of something.... "

Oh, and to bubbabold.. Merry Christmas to you, too.

Seriously, can anyone here give me one good technical reason why having a loud bike helps anything other than your ego?
It drowns out all the whining.

Waking up babies lololol that's more fun than setting off car alarms.

Sure. A Harley has a big engine with just two cylinders. It requires big gulps of air to feed each cylinder, and a rather free flowing exhaust to get rid of that volume of air, to develop the available power.

The more cylinders an engine has, the less air is required per cyclinder, and the "quieter," or less free flowing exhaust is required to get rid of that exhaust.

And yes, many bikers just like to make noise, often to the detriment of performance. But don't ever think they are just Harley riders.

Anyone? Anyone?

Bueller?

I agree for the most part. There is a point that pipes are excessivelly loud, and the people with them know who they are. And then add to that the fact some of the owners of said pipes like to have others hear them, like at stop lights, when they start up, or the 'RAP' right before they shut it off. Or being proud of the fact they can set off car alarms. These are the the same folks thats will be whineing when they cause John Q. {like bubbabold} to pass laws outlawing them.
