Don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but gotta ask a couple of questions, if ya don't mind. First, why Ape Hangers? Is it looks? handling qualities most are unaware of?...and secondly, for those who have them, Do the outstreached arms exacerbate the hands going numb? more so, I would believe than from a normal riding position. Again, sorry for the Hi-Jack, I just hadda ask.
Okay, took a test run today. I test it by wathcing the wife on her bike behind me. I cannot see quite as well having them on top of the bars, but I can see pretty well. I jsut have to get used to adjusting where I look to see. I ahve thought about it and the height of your apes makes a big difference in this. I'm gonna leave them upside down for a while. I can also check my armpits for sweat...
You could mount them upside down for the cool appearance and to keep it cool with the law, and mount one of those rear view cameras with a monitor for peeking back just and idea. Make 'documentary' movies with it and write the system, maybe bike and all, off as a deduction
You could also hang a mirror ball of them ape hangers...or not[sm=smiley29.gif]
I have mine upside down. I can see just fine. Not as well as I could with them on top, but I couldn't stand the look of them there. I use the stock mirrors. I was thinking, though, maybe if I put the stem extensions on them, I could see better. Makes sense, as I have to lift my elbow, slightly, to see completely behind me. I will either try this, or find a mirror that gas a longer stem, or a stem that extends out to the end of the bars. Either way, they are staying on the underside of the bars.
Mine are on top, I'll probably try them out underneath. I have to be able to see from them though, always checking them (I also always turn to look when changing lanes).
I tried puttng my mirrors upside downonce but I quickly put them right back the way that they were because when I looked into the mirrors, everything appeared closer and upside down.
