CLEARWATER -- A motorcyclist was killed this morning while weaving his way through moving traffic, Clearwater public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Daly-Watts said in a statement.
Investigators say two or three motorcycles were weaving through northbound traffic on U.S. 19, north of Drew Street, when one of the motorcyclists hit the back end of a vehicle. The impact ejected the driver from the bike. He died at the scene.
Authorities say speed was a factor in the crash, which took place about 2:35 a.m.
The man was not identified as investigators search for relatives.
Several lanes of northbound U.S. 19 in that area were closed for an investigation, but all lanes have reopened.
It's sad...but it the day and age where these bikes kill. All you gotta do is twist the throttel..When I grew up traffic was to be respected..These days it's a game and a gamble with unspeakable odds..Do it a couple times and get away with it then ya think your an invincible winner..Ufortunatly the odds kill.

They know that speed kills and many drive like this just forthe rush they get from cheating death. This guy knew the riskand chose to take it. I feelmore sad for his family and friends who are left to grieve his loss. Fortunately he didn't take some innocent person with him.
Don't know how I lived thru my early(squidly) days without misshap. It wasn't til I was 60 yrs old, minding my own business at legal speed, helmeted on a country road that I got nailed by a no signal, left turner. Go figure. I guess it's true, when it's your time..it's your time, especially if they "don't see you".[:@]

I never said excessive speed
Anyways....what is excessive..some divided highways are set as low as 55mph..our roads are FAR safer than the roads in europe...our speed limits are LOWER....yet we have more accidents....me thinks it has to do with he abilities of the drivers/riders....not the speed
