Default octane gas you use

Being that the newer Harleys are fuel injected are most of you guys using a 91 or higher octane and if so are you getting your computer revamped for that level of octane to take advantage of some of the effects of using a higher octane?

All the newer models "require" at least 91. In the cold of winter at altitude maybe you could get away with less, but, yes you really need it: the TC 96 has a compression ratio of 9.2:1, sporties 9.7:1, you need the higher octane. In my neck of the woods (high desert/southern Rockies) it's hard to find over 91 grade fuel, some places the premium is still 90, so I don't use it: my compression ratio is 11.5:1 so I really need it. The advantage is no predestination with those higher compression ratios. It's cents more; you should use premium.

Like the guys above said; all Harley's require 91 or above. I've seen the results of burning regular gas (in some of the bikes that come into the shop. For the sake of a few pennies it isn't worth it)......stick to what your manual tells you

Ialways use 93 octane unless it's not available. I also try to find older gas stations that have seperate hoses for each grade of gas. Think about it. If you buy your gas at a station that has 87.91, and 93 octane and it all comes from one hose, you are getting at least a half gallon of low octane gas before you get to the good stuff. Unless the person before you pumped premium. When pumping only three gallons this seems to make a difference.

Maybe I'm taking this too far but I really hate it when I hear the valves ping on a hot day.

92 or 93 Whatever it takes.
This is premium in my area. I think next spring I might try a couple of tanks of the mid-grade which is 89

I sure dont want no predestination problems.

More likely just a quart of whatever was previously purchased.
