Default Disk padlock: front or rear?

My bike is a '07 Dyna with steering lock, alarm system and security key.
I've found a good disk padlock with integrated alarm system. Only problem: it won't fit the front disk, only the rear one.
Why an alarm padlock if I already have an alarm on the bike? Because two is better than one.
Now: is there any serious drawback using the padlock on the rear brake?
I've always seen these padlocks on the front brake.

Personally, I would prefer the disk lock on the rear wheel. Removing the entire front wheel is a piece of cake and can be done quicker than removing the rear.

The only drawback I can think of is trying to ride off without taking the lock off.

They (whoever "they" are) make a rather silly looking coiled wire that you attach to the lock and extend to the handlebars for the forgetfull rider... Probably works or you would get tangled up in it!!!

A good reason to put it on the front and run the goofy bright orange spiral cord is that it's more easily seen. I think 99% of the value of a rotor lock is it can make the bad guy pick somebody else's bike if he's in a hurry.

Been there done that. Doesn't matter much anyway, had mine off in less than five minutes with a Sawsall and carbide blade. Hell a cop even drove by when I was sawing it off, on El Cajon Blvd in San Diego in broad daylight. He just rolled on by. Locks will only keep honest people from stealing your bike. Screw the lock buy insurance.

Ive got a Trimax Max60 (rather large MF) and I use it on the drive pulley plus it also goes through the D's on the helmets
and keeps them locked to the bike.

Have a piece of small twine, line, string or something attached to the lock that is long enough for you to run it up to your handle bars or ignition and loop it there as a strong reminder when you get on the bike that you indeed have a wheel lock installed. I have seen people start to ride off after forgetting they had one on and that's a sure way of spoiling a nice day.

No Reminder cord required.

No Storage Necessary when Riding.

Can't be cut off.

Recommended by many Harley Dealerships.
