Default Keep your insurance coverage current!

Reminder to all: Everytime you make significant mods to your ride, make sure to up your coverage with your insurance company. If you are in an accident and it is your fault your coverage will only pay for that which you are insured for. If you do not declare extra parts, accessories and or modifications and pay the small premium increase you may find yourself short should you find yourself at fault in an accident. In any event keep every single receipt as proof should you ever have to make a claim.

I was recently the victim of an inattentive cager who luckily had insurance which should cover all my losses as far as my bike goes. Had I been at fault I would have received a settlement from my insurance company that would have been short about $4k. I was waiting for February when my renewal was up but had my accident in late December.

Pay a little more now and save a lot later.

Ride safe everyone.

Are you referring to gap ins or just adding on to your base?

Thanks!

I was referring to adding coverage to your base insurance. Most policies only cover the cost to replace your bike + $1k for accessories & $1k for riding gear. As you know most H-D owners have far more than $1k in accessories over stock.

Hey Primo, you are so right on this. I've gone back twice now with receipts for chrome or other accessories as it adds up. I have a 2000 Heritage and if I only had it insured for the straight value of the bike minus add ons, I would be losing close to $3,000 or so. Now my insurance agent just tells me to let him know what I've added and keep my receipts. Thats a big burden off your back.
