How about a scholarship fund for the kids of public service workers (police, firefighters, etc.)?
I just happen to have the perfect one in mind ...
I work at a regional univeristy where my department sponsors a scholarship for the kids of public service personnel (police, firefighters, etc.). Each year faculty donate to the scholarship. Several of us in the department ride, so we've been planning on a regional bike meet with proceeds going to the scholarship. An announcements/advertisement in something like Brain Bucket might be a good idea.
I believe that all of these are good ideas. I have 2 soft spots in my heart. One is being children since they are our future, but I firmly belive that without the past, there is no future. I don't know of any organization dedicated to preserving the dignity of our senior citizens, and am looking for someone who might have a link so it could be added to this list. Our future is only as strong as our past. IMHO
