Default Trailer Help

Looken for some insite, I have a Triton Elite 20-101 http://www.tritontrailers.com/models1.asp?ModelID=16(3100 lb capacity bed is 101" wide X 240" long) snowmoibile trailer which I want to use to hall my Street Glide my brothers Fat Boy and his wifes Sporty.

Iwas thinking of using the Condor pit stop\trailer stop http://www.condor-lift.com/product.asp?ItemID=1001mounted to the trailer, along with straps and I know I'll need a longer ramp so was planning on getting one of those folding 3 piece 96" Alum portable ramps that I couldstrap down between the bikes after loading.

Ok I'm I on track hear ??

Any one else convert or use a snowmoilbe trailer for there bikes ??

What I'm I missing ?? any and all segustions welcome !

I see no reason why you can't use a "snowmobile" trailer for motorcycles. If you attach tire chocks on the trailer, you can buy the ones that have anchors that mount in the wood of the trailer, so the chock is removable and nothing is left sticking up when you go back to loading snowmobiles on it again.

As long as you position the bikes safely to not hit one another, and not exceed the trailer's weight rating, have at it....

My open trailers were my Motorcycle/Lawnmower/Furniture moving trailer.

I've owned 2 open trailers before I bought an enclosed trailer. I love the Baxley wheel chocks for transporting as you don't have to pull the front down tight and risk damaging fork seals, similar to the chock that you posted. There are other chocks out there, but most I've seen work fine.

FYI: If you call Baxley, you can get "Factory blem" chocks, (Paint imperfections) for about $200-215, vs $235. They're beefier then the chock you posted and I like them, compared to the Condor, just a tad better. Either way, that'll work great.

Condors are great, but very pricey. We have used Pingel wheel chocks for both enclosed andsnowmobile trailersfor years. They run about $40-$70. They have both types, removable and permanent. If new to hauling, remember, it is much easier to lose a bike off the front of the trailer than to throw it off the rear. (Brakes vs acceleration) Tie the rear down GOOD. Another note, use sof-ties if your tie down is going to rub or cross any valuable part. Also, 3 on a snowmobile trlr, may have to load 2 facing front and the middle one facing rear.(Wheel chock still goes to front of trailer, holds rear wheel.)We use our rig for chase vehicle for an MC on long cross country trips. Don't skimp on your tie downs and you can never have too many of them. We have a 3100# axle, and have had 3 baggers on it at one time. Just make sure your tire press. are up for that kind of load. Also, make sure you have a good spare along, and a jack that will fit under the axle alongwith the right size socket for a lug wrench or have AAA.Very shortly after you hit the road, do a dynamite the brake test. First, to see how much further it takes to stop. And second, after you try it, recheck your tie downs. Now, B4 someone else posts it, "Silly yuppie, trailers are for boats"

Got a 6x12 open trailer with a tailgate on it that lets down. I ride my bike up on the trailer and strap it down. I been going to git a condor Pit stop myself so I can use it in the garage or on the trailer. Hauled my bike 700 miles one way and back.

Check out Harbour Freights chocks. They have two type between 60 and 90 dollars. They are reasonably built.
