my do rag is a standard in black with POW symbol. i have a Sikorsky skullcap lost somewhere in the shop too that is pretty comfortable.

I found a plain desert brown do-rag (they called it a patrol rag for under the kevlar) at MCSS (Military Clothing Sales Store) just before I left for Afghanistan a couple of years ago. Don't know if they still carry them or not. If they don't have them at the MCSS, check the PX in the camping section where they have all the knives and hoo-ah stuff.

just cut the shirt square, bandana size, hem the edgeand tie it like you tie a bandana.

Thanks for all the input, guys.

I'll check out the links and patterns... also, I'll swing by the MCSS tomorrow. Totally spaced off their line of "hooah" products, as I don't visit that aisle very much - I have enough field gear for three people.

Anything that you have to tie into a knot is not good under a helmet. For me the knot willl cause headaches on long trips. Some type of scull cap would probably work best.

I'll vouch for the aircrew skull cap, those things worked pretty good. Wore one under my cranial helmetwhile cruising in the Indian Ocean in July at the equator during flight ops.
