Several ways to INTERPRET it. I hate the word interpret. The police will be stopping us or at road checks that I expect to happen if we dont have DOT on the back, on the inside the makers name, size, date manufactored, FMVSS218, DOT all on the inside of the helmet. Also 1 inch of lining. They will not allow us to drive the bike away from thescene. All this was said by the State Trooper (nice guy couldnt have been better) that also stated it was a poorly written law. So if your 200 miles away from home like I gave him the example your in a fix.
