I don't know I have a gut reaction that the economy is in trouble. I live in Southern Nevada and there are lots of foreclosed homes in this market, at least here it looks like the economy is in trouble. I am not an economist, and thankfully lucky to have a job that allows my to the pay bills. Furthermore, I almost cringe to open my 401K it doesn't look good from here.
I have a 07 roadking and I love it but H/D needs to drop there prices a little, I know a few people that would buy one if they were a little cheaper...I guess thats why H/D stands for( High Dollar)..
That is one thing I thought might actually help Harley Davidson is the fact motorcycles are good on gas. However, when somebody decides they want a fuel efficient motorcycle, they aren't going to buy a harley. A harley will need premium gas and will cost far more than a midsize metric cycle. Generally speaking, I don't think the high gas prices will help Harley Davidson sales much. Buell however might benefit.

We were talking about this at work today. Fact is you can buy a new car cheaper than most of the Harleys that get almost as good gas mileage.

Fuel efficiency is one thing, brand recognition is another. Ever heard of a Buell holding value as a resale? Don't think so...HD holds their value more than any other bike, or at least has, and once we permanently occupy the middle east, the cost of fuel will be a non-issue...
Things going okay in the midwest. Chicago and surrounding counties business housing construction still strong. Quad City area same thing and job growth. Polititians getting as big of bribes er contributions as ever.
Many other areas of the States doing the same. Remimber that the news blows more hot air than anyone. It's their topic now and they will beat it to death.[sm=smiley19.gif][sm=outcold.gif][sm=icon_beat.gif][sm=helpout.gif][sm=chairshot.gif]
Sure they will survive and so will all the rest of us,thishas all happened before and will happen again and we always recover. Most of this was caused by the overspending of the people themselves and now they have to pay for their poor decisions. Besides, there is not as much doom and gloom as the liberal media would like you to believe unless of course you kneel at the altarof the environmental, going green and global warmingchurch where so many Chicken Little liberals kneel at withtheir idiot leaders, because that is their religionand they try to push it on the rest of us.
AMEN - brother I hear ya.

Yep, there's about 5 mpg difference between what I get in my car and what I get mileage wise on my glide. If you figure that I put premium in my glide and regular in my car then it's just as cheap to drive my car as ride my bike. Now if I'm on my V-strom I'm saving money because I get between 50 and 53 mpg's and use regular gas.
Yes, obviously the economy is slow and I already ordered/paid in full for a 2008 FLHR here in sand land with $1600 off MSRP through Military Exchange Car Sales. Todays Star & Stripes pg. 25 (Mideast Edition) is showing2007 Soft Tail Deluxe $4700 off MSRP, $4470 off MSRP Fat Boy and $3490 off MSRP for Sportster 883. Of course these are left overs for 2007. I'm curious what deals they currently are offering for 2008 models?
