Does anyone have any ideas on how to take a 35 pound dog along with me and the wife on a Ultra? Side cart is out, so let me know if anyone has any other inovative ways to bring along the mut. Has anyone put a dog cage on the back luggage rack?

+1 ....Do you think your dog really wants to feel the insecurity of being outside a moving vehicle instead of curled up on your couch? Think it over. Bad idea.

We have two miniture daschunds. My wife made a vest with a pouch on either side. The dogs ride in the pouches wearing their doggles. They seem to enjoy it. They are not afraid of the motorcycle noise at all. Coming back from Williamsburg, VA to Richmond, I thought some cars were going to run off the road looking at the dogs. It's ok for short trips, but I wouldn't want to deal with it on a long trip.

A 35 pound dog should not be on a motorcycle. I could see it if the the dog was like one of those 5 pounders, and you raised him up going for rides on the bike with some sort of very safe set up designed specifically for dogs...and even then I am against it.
I am more worried for the animal than I am for you, but it could also be a danger for you. At 35 pounds, if he should get the idea to bail on you or just jump around or something, while your zipping along at 75MPH it may not be all that pretty looking.
Look, nobody on this forum loves his dog more than me, and nobody here hates having to leave his dog at home when he is out riding.....but even if I had a small dog (I have a German Shepherd Dog who is 117LBS, and does a good job of shaking my Ford Bronco around no less a Harley), I would NEVER take him on the bike!
